We’re off down to Kempton racecourse this evening for our daily racing tip on a balmy evening in the South West.
A competitive staying handicap at 19:50 is maybe the hottest race on the evening card at the Surrey Venue tonight.
There are eight course winners in the field for eleven runners and so this won’t be one easy, but there looks to one overpriced runner lurking in there worth taking a position on.
Piedeta goes for Sir Mark Prescott off the back of a near year-long break. A dual winner from four starts in handicaps last time, she makes her seasonal bow tonight ahead of what could be a nice campaign.
She remains lightly raced and can be expected to improve on those efforts this term. This filly can be fancied to run well once more today to start that process if ready to go off the back of her absence.
Her handler is 7-24 for a strike rate of close to 30% which is encouraging, as is the presence of a couple of first-time-out seasonal winners on that list.
For all that it’s a competitive field that lines up in opposition, with the likes of Arab Moon and Petitioner and looking likely types, the double-figure prices about the daughter of Authorized look very large indeed and an each-way investment is advised.
She looks capable of outrunning those odds and giving each-way backers a fair crack of the whip at a price that could be twice what it should be.
