The 1000 Guineas is Sunday’s feature race of the day, with some of the UK and Ireland’s leading fillies all vying for the second classic of the season.
I Can Fly is a horse I really think could be quite good this season, and I rate her as one of the main contenders in this year’s Guineas. She is still very unexposed having only raced three times, winning once before finishing third at this venue in a Group Three.
She was beaten by two lengths on her racecourse return in Ireland on return, but there could be much more to come from her. A fortnight ago she was 16/1 for this race and she is now only 7/1, so there is fair market interest on this filly who still could be quite smart.
A lot more is required of her here of course, and this will prove a very difficult test for such a unexposed horse. However, she remains full of potential and with the market moving she looks to have an exceptional each-way chance.
Soliloquy is a close second choice for me, for Charlie Appleby’s yard. She looked pretty impressive in the Nell Gwyn, a trial for this, winning by just under two lengths in what looked both a professional and impressive performance. She is picked over Wild Illusion, who could eventually be one for the Oaks later down the line.
Finally Dan’s Dream is one I expect can outrun his high odds. Mick Channon’s yard are having an incredible start to the season, and I know he really rates this filly. She won well at Newbury last time, but that form wasn’t too strong and she’ll need to do much more here, but she has a likeable profile and can do very well.
