Kevin Pietersen Rolls Back The Years With Stunning Big Bash Catch

Kevin Pietersen announced that he will be retiring from cricket after the Big Bash League season a few days ago, but in true KP fashion, he doesn't like to be out of the limelight for too long.

Impressing for the Melbourne Stars, Pietersen added this stunning catch to his action-packed knock of 74 at the Etihad Stadium.

Pieterson dived to his right to pluck the Kookaburra ball out of the night's sky with aplomb as Melbourne Renegades batsman Tom Cooper aimed to drive off the bowling of Jackson Coleman at point. Now 37, the England batsman showed no signs of ageing with his athletic take which put his side firmly in control.

Earlier, KP smashed a 45-ball score of 74 which included five sixes. Although the Stars don't look like being involved in the latter stages of the BBL, they dented the hopes of their Melbourne rivals the Renegades who struggled to chase down the total of 167, eventually finishing on 144/9.

A few overs after Pieterson's catch, Dwayne Bravo got into the action when hitting one of the best shots you will see in the BBL this season, a stunning six which was even more sensationally caught in the crowd. The West Indian mullered his six, which was coming down with snow on it, but no bother for this laid back punter who took it all in his stride.

Peter Handscomb (41) and Glenn Maxwell (31 NO) assisted Pieterson in giving the Melbourne Stars their first win of the Big Bash League after six attempts.
