Ayr have had some shocking luck with the weather of late and the Scottish course have had to abandon yet another meeting today, as have Lingfield down in Surrey.
That leaves that old reliable Southwell as the only scrap left on the table for U.K racing fans this afternoon. We’ve picked one off the card in Nottinghamshire for our daily tip.
Mister Music returned from a layoff over course and distance with a nice win under apprentice Aled Beech and the pair return at 16:00 this afternoon.
The old bay was slow into stride last time but it did him no harm, he got into a nice rhythm in behind and put them to the sword off the pace as they came up the straight.
He looked to have a bit in hand off that mark and a 6lb rise might not be enough to stop him going in again - he’s won off 16lbs higher on turf - and is still unexposed on this surface.
Angel Palanas is an in-form operator and loves to make all and so - hopefully for our purposes - he should bound out of the gate again and set a nice pace for our fancy to aim at. Sooqaan and Queens Royale are among others in fine fettle in the field and it could be a tight one at the finish as they all go to battle.
We’ll happily take an each-way punt on Music Maker to have us singing this afternoon at a price of around 5/1 regardless.
