Conditions look particularly testing today at Haydock today with the going having been declared as heavy. My selection comes from in the 13:55 Novices' Hurdle where I'm siding with Venita Willia5-year-old old Shivermetimbers who is sent to make his hurdling debut this afternoon
He's had just one run so far which came back in March in a bumper at Warwick. A comfortable winner at 9/1 that day Shivermetimbers looked to handle the soft ground superbly and he looked a very likeable prospect.
He should have come on from that run and we know that Venetia Williams runners tend to be mudlarks and her team is in decent form at the moment. This is only a 6 runner field and with the favourite having only ever ran on the flat I'm hoping that we will be celebrating come 2pm this afternoon.
