The Sportsman's Verdict
FOOTPAD was unbeaten in the novice chase division last season landing four Grade 1s in the process and it is hard to see the six-year-old's impressive run over fences come to an end here. A winner at all the major festivals last season, he had Saint Calvados well held in the Arkle at Cheltenham and with the good ground unlikely to suit Harry Whittington's five-year-old, it's unlikely he'll be able to bridge the 54-length deficit here. Another comfortable victory could be on the cards for Willie Mullins' son of Creachadoir. The Gigginstown pair, Arkwrisht and Tycoon Prince, look best placed to fight it out for the minor money.
