Barcelona are set to go head-to-head with two Premier League clubs for the signing of one of Europe’s hottest talents at the moment. Liverpool and Spurs are the two Premier League clubs ready to battle it out for the signature of a man who simply cannot stop scoring since moving to the Serie A this season.
The Polish forward in question, Krzysztof Piatek, has drawn several comparisons to his compatriot Robert Lewandowski, due to his ridiculous goalscoring record at club level. The 23-year-old striker has set ridiculous records since moving to Genoa from Cracovia in the summer, where he scored 32 league goals in 65 appearances for the Polish side.
At Genoa, he has simply been the best goalscorer in Europe this term. With nine league goals this season he is leaving the rest of Serie A’s strikers in the dust, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lorenzo Insigne.
On his debut for the club, he had bagged a hat-trick by the 19th minute and hit four goals in a spectacular first half of football in the Coppa Italia. In Serie A he became the first player since Andriy Shevchenko to score five goals in his first four Serie A appearances and a couple of weeks later he went one further and became the first player since Gabriel Batistuta to score in each of his first seven Serie A games.
On the interest with La Liga giants, the young player said: “The Barcelona interest in me – I heard, but I do not believe it – the broken records, including that of Shevchenko, for now I do not consider joining them too much. Maybe one day I will enjoy reading these things.”
