Bayern Munich Star Wants To Return To Barcelona, As Manchester United Eye Up His Signature

We reported earlier that Manchester United are targeting Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara as their big summer signing, but since it was announced that the Red Devils have their eye on the 27-year-old, it's been reported that the Spanish international is looking for a move back to Barcelona.

Alcantara worked his way through the youth ranks at Barcelona before launching himself into the first team at the Camp Nou, where he made over 100 appearances for Barcelona and Barcelona B, but having joined Bayern Munich in July 2013 for a fee in the region of €25m he has since enhanced his already lofty reputation as he has helped the German heavyweights to a host of Bundesliga titles, and has also cemented his place as a regular in the Spanish national team.

However, Bayern are now open to selling Alcantara for the right fee, and it's been announced that Jose Mourinho is looking to lure the Spaniard to Old Trafford, as he looks to get stuck into the transfer market following the completion of the World Cup.  United have also been linked to Robert Lewandoski from Bayern, as Mourinho looks to add significant quality to his squad ahead of the new campaign, but Alcantara has reportedly told the Bayern Munich hierarchy that he would prefer they sold him back to Barcelona, and he would select a move to back to Spain rather than joining up with Mourinho in the north west of England.

It will be a hammer blow for Mourinho, who knows that he needs to strengthen his squad significantly if he is to bridge the gap with rivals Manchester City, but he may look elsewhere now with the news that Alcantara is not eyeing up a move to England.
