Tributes have been pouring in all day for former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba who has confirmed his retirement.
Former team-mates and of course his old clubs have been queueing up to heap praise on the prolific striker who enjoyed his best years at Stamford Bridge.
But the tweet which caught our eye came from an unlikely source. Bayern Munich posted: "You broke our hearts once but we still want to congratulate you on a superb career. All the best for the future. @didierdrogba #FCBayern #MiaSanMia"
The "broke our hearts once" reference goes back to the 2012 Champions League Final when Drogba's strike settled the game in favour of the Blues. The tweet also features a photo of Drogba consoling his former team-mate Arjen Robben.
The ex-Ivory Coast international has been with US side Phoenix Rising for the last couple of years, but he has finally decided to hang up his boots and he leaves behind a career that saw him explode into one of the finest strikers in the world.
Drogba joined Chelsea in 2004 from Marseille and was a key member of the side which won four Premier League titles and a Champions League during his time at the club.
He netted 164 goals in 381 games and most impressively of all proved he was the man for the big occasion, saving some of his best performances for finals. How the Chelsea faithful must wish they had him back at the Bridge in his prime as the likes of Alvaro Morata struggle in front of goal
