The semi-final draws have taken place

The draw for the semi-finals of the Betfred Challenge Cup has taken place and now the teams can plot their route to Wembley Stadium in August. St Helens will take on York City Knights or Leigh Leopards in their semi-final, with an away fixture to deal with if they want to go one further than they did last year.

One year ago they were narrowly beaten 20-18 by Wigan Warriors in a thrilling semi-final but this time around they are just getting into their groove, and will avoid a match-up with Wigan at the semi-final stage once again. If Wigan get past Warrington this afternoon, they face a trip to Hull KR who have once again made the final four. That promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Meanwhile, in the women’s draw, Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors will meet in a blockbuster clash, with current holder St Helens drawn at home against York Valkyrie in the other semi. Both Leeds and Wigan enjoyed big wins in the quarter-finals, so it will be intriguing to see how their offences match up against each other, with St Helens were purring in their 36-0 win over Warrington Wolves.
