Betfred League 1: Swinton-Rochdale Live On The Sportsman In Exclusive Double Bill

The north-west derby clash will be the second match in a live double-header
18:30, 08 Jun 2022

The Sportsman will screen a special double-header of live and exclusive rugby league coverage on Sunday, with international action and a Betfred League One promotion clash being available to watch for free.

As previously revealed, international rugby league comes to our site at 1pm on Sunday as Wales women host England at Cross Keys in an international friendly which will serve as a Rugby League World Cup warm-up fixture for the visitors. It is a repeat of the clash at Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington in June 2021, when England were 60-0 winners in the Dragons’ first full international.

And that match-up will be followed with the League One encounter between third-placed Swinton Lions and fourth-placed Rochdale Hornets, with both teams looking to strengthen their claims for a promotion challenge having each won seven of their opening nine games this season.

The match at Heywood Road will have a few special guests too, with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair Rugby League World Cups all set to be in attendance at the fixture as fans get the opportunity to see the trophies in all their glory ahead of this autumn’s event in England.

Swinton come into the clash on the back of a hard-fought 16-8 win over Oldham on Sunday, while the Hornets were 46-28 winners against Doncaster last time out. But it is the Lions who are the form team heading into the 4:30pm kick-off, with four straight victories under their belts since their 30-0 reverse to Keighley Cougars in West Yorkshire in April.

Sunday’s coverage gets underway at 12:45pm on The and on The Sportsman Rugby League YouTube channel, with the Wales v England international first up. And that programme will be followed on both our website and our YouTube channel at 4:15 by Rochdale’s trip to Swinton.

The fantastic double-header is all part of The Sportsman’s bumper crop of live rugby league coverage this season across international fixtures, the Betfred Challenge Cup, Betfred League One, Betfred Women's Super League and wheelchair rugby league.
