Trains, Brexit, Stadiums. We certainly are used to things being delayed/cancelled in Britain by now and Spurs’ fans have had to be more patient than most this season as they are still waiting to get the first taste of their brand-new stadium. That stadium was, of course, meant to be opened way back in the hazy days of August, when the whole of the country was in some sort of post World Cup heatwave slump and that included the builders, fair play to them.

In fairness to the builders and safety testers at the new Spurs stadium, nobody worked that summer. It was all a blur of beer gardens, big screens and Harry Maguire’s forehead so it came to nobody’s surprise that when the Premier League came around in August, nobody was ready for it, let alone Spurs with their new stadium.

It seemed that there was only a matter of hours separating Kieran Trippier’s free-kick against Croatia and Paul Pogba opening the scoring for the new Premier League season for Manchester United and I think we all could have done with a bit more of a break. It was even strange seeing our lord and saviour, Gareth Southgate sat in the stands at the Vitality Stadium, waistcoat-less.

It was like seeing Batman without his mask, Dec without Ant or anyone from The Only Way is Essex with a Sudoku puzzle. Personally, I wasn’t ready for that. I’m still not ready for the 2018/19 club football season to start yet here we are, bloody February. The first trophy of the year has already been won, surprise surprise by Manchester City, whilst Liverpool are on the cusp *almost* winning the Premier League title. Spoiler - they won’t.

Where was I? Oh yes, Spurs’ new stadium now looks set to open in summer, due to the fact it would be incredibly strange for them to host a game towards the end of the season.

Oooh look at these newly released images. Damn, that is a fine-looking stadium. I’m sure I will enjoy club football once again next season when England are not participating in a summer tournament that makes everything else seem irrelevant.

The Nations League you say? IT’S COMING HOME!
