Have you ever seen anything like this? Vitoria took on Bahia this weekend in a feisty encounter in a Bahia state championship match, but nobody could imagine how this game would end.

A feisty first 45 produced six bookings whilst a Denilson goal was enough to give Vitoria a 1-0 win at the break. The referee would have hoped for a quieter second half having dished out so many bookings but that was not to be the case,

In fact, things got incredibly worse for the man in the middle when Bahia were awarded a penalty five minutes after half-time. Vinicius stepped up a slotted the ball home before celebrating the goal by dancing in front of the home fans.

This led to complete chaos by the advertising hoardings and punches being thrown left, right and centre. Vitoria’s number 25 threw a left-right combination that George Groves would have been proud of which only aggravated the situation. Subs and coaches alike came on to try and bring some sort of sense to the situation however the damage was already done.

The referee sent off eight players after the fight, three to the hosts Vitoria (including Kanu) and five to the visitors but the game was allowed to continue. That was up until the 79th minute when Vitoria had another two players sent off in a brutal contest.

The game paled into insignificance but Bahia should be awarded a 3-0 victory. Keep an eye on these two teams next time they meet, there should be fireworks!

See the carnage below!
