Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 35 Preview

Four more gameweeks, that’s all we have left. This season has truly flown by, and I’d like to start this preview by congratulating Manchester City. They’re worthy champions who’re going to be tough to de-throne during the 2018/19 campaign.

Anyway, back to the action we go… GW35 is another bizarre one, mainly due to the FA Cup returning, meaning some players don’t have fixtures at all, including both Manchester United and Tottenham; two clubs who feature heavily in my own personal team.

With that in mind, I’d urge you utilise your free hit if you’ve been holding onto it for this long. This perk allows you to completely change your squad; but for one week only. It’s ideal for these situations. Now, let’s look at some player selections.

Three players to buy

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool - £4.4million

Liverpool’s defence has looked much more stern recently, keeping three clean-sheets in their last four league matches. Trent Alexander-Arnold has emerged as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice right-back, and at £4.4million he’s an excellent pick-up.

This one comes with a slight warning, though. There is a possibility that the Liverpool man is rested before their Champions League clash against AS Roma, but with him being so cheap, he’s well worth the gamble; providing you can guarantee your first substitute is 100% going to take to the field this weekend.

Wilfried Zaha – Crystal Palace - £6.9million

I love this pick. First of all, Palace have a rather kind looking fixture list from here on out, with Wilfried Zaha in brilliant form. At £6.9million the skillful represents excellent value. I also love his 6% ownership.

Zaha has five goal contributions in his last five outings, including scoring an excellent brace last time out against Brighton. Form is everything in Fantasy Premier League, and I see no reason to give this young man his chance to earn you those all-important points.

Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City - £10.1million

With Sergio Aguero done for the season, this provides Gabriel Jesus with the perfect opportunity to star City’s last four games. Sure, they’re on their victory parade now, but this is a team that’ll still score goals for fun.

I like the £10.1million price on Jesus, too. It’s cheap for a player of his calibre. Sure, he may not have the most impressive form (though he did score last time out against Spurs), but I expect him to find his shooting boots this weekend against Swansea.

Three players to sell

Marcos Alonso – Chelsea - £7.2million

Marcos Alonso has been hit with a three-game ban, while Chelsea has just three Premier League fixtures remaining. It makes absolutely no sense to leave the most expensive defender in FPL on your bench.

This is as high as his value will ever be, so sell now, before the majority of his 18% ownership does exactly the same. Take a look at Manchester City defenders, perhaps Kyle Walker?

Heung-Min Son – Tottenham Hotspur - £8.4million

The man from South Korea has always been a streaky player, and with just one goal contribution in his last three outings, coupled with the fact Spurs don’t play a Premier League game this weekend, now seems as good a time as any to transfer Son out.

His £8.4million is a rather sizeable chunk of money to play with going into the final four gameweeks, but once again, be careful when replacing him as there are four fixtures that don’t go ahead this weekend.

Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City - £9.0million

The former PFA Player of the Year has struggled at times this term, and currently he’s without a goal contribution in his last four. The £9.0million price-tag coupled with the high 25% ownership is a huge turn-off, too…

Leicester City are amongst those who don’t have a fixture this weekend; notice a theme occurring here? Give yourself the best possible chance at making up ground on those guys ahead of you. Not everyone pays attention to the fixture list, but trust me when I say it can be the difference between you or your buddy scooping first place in your leagues.

Don’t forget the game weeks are winding down, so if you’ve still got your triple captain and bench boost, you may as well start thinking about using them sooner; there is absolutely no point in letting them go to waste.

Good luck, and we’ll see you next week!
