Burnley v Arsenal Preview: Arsenal Out To Bounce Back After European Defeat
20:21, 24 Nov 2017

When is it?

Sunday, November 26 at Turf Moor at 2pm.

Which channel can I watch it on?

None on the TV; It’s not available to watch live in the UK. You can follow through Arsenal and Burnley players, as well as The Sportsman’s own live blog to boot.

Burnley

Were tipped for the drop by many, but are actually level with Arsenal. Yes, Sean Dyche has worked his magic once again with the men from Turf Moor and they are one of the Premier League’s highest-flying sides. Their 3-2 win over Chelsea was seen as a bit of a fluke at the time but nothing could have been further from the truth and their 1-1 draws against Tottenham and Liverpool once again showed their talents against the Premier League’s elite.

Their home record is also very strong as well – they have lost just once this week, that coming against West Brom on the second matchday of the season.

Arsenal

Saw their midweek team go down to Cologne on Thursday, but have made it through their group as winners whilst also blooding a whole host of new faces. Their first team were dominant in their 2-0 win against Spurs in the North London Derby, managing to snuff out the threat of Harry Kane and Dele Alli whilst targeting Davison Sanchez and Jan Vertongen with pace down the flanks. A very similar type of performance is going to be needed here if they are to break down Burnley, who have been very solid this season when faced against Top 6 sides.

Head To Heads

Surprisingly rosy for the visitors, given that Burnley have developed a strong record against the Top 6 in the Premier League during their time here. The Gunners have won their last six against the Clarets but the last three have only come by a single goal and in the reverse fixture last season Laurent Koscielny appeared to be offside when the winner went in off his elbow with the last kick of the game.

Team News

Burnley

Have a remarkably strong setup; Only Dean Marney, Tom Heaton, and Jonathan Walters are out and Nick Pope has been a fine replacement for the injured Heaton.

Arsenal

The big guns who dominated Tottenham are likely to be back after a week’s rest, with Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette set tup spearhead the attack once more whilst the back four will also change totally.

Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin will make the rear-guard ahead of Petr Cech and if they produce the performance they gave against Spurs on a weekly basis, then Arsenal will be very excited about the rest of their season.

Likely Starting Lineups:

Burnley: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward, Gudmundsson, Defour, Cork, Brady, Hendrick, Barnes

Arsenal: Cech; Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal; Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac; Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette

Prediction: 0-0 Draw. Burnley have frustrated the Premier League’s best already this season and they will feel that can do the same to Arsenal’s illustrious side.
