Celebrating The Art Of Football

Football has rarely looked beautiful.

The Art of Football, a Nottingham based design house have been turning heads with their vivid illustrations of iconic football moments and endearing ‘Pickles’ teddy bears kitted out in classic kits with a nod to the casual movement.

Their website sells a range of products from prints to T-shirts and though the emphasis is on football, they have also been commissioned to work on other sports such as boxing, rugby league and rugby union.

Taking much of their inspiration from memorable goals and celebrations, Art of Football has found popularity not just with supporters but major companies such as adidas.

The Sportsman paid a visit to the company’s studio in Nottingham and one of the founders Luke Cuthbert explained: “We create artwork from iconic footballing moments. This goes on a range of artworks, like wall art but also a clothing range. Everything to do with football really.”

Although based in Nottingham, the source of inspiration actually came from Manchester City’s title win in 2012.

“When Sergio Aguero scored that last minute title-winning goal for Manchester City it made you feel emotions like only football provides,” said Luke. “This was the perfect way to merge the two and we came up with Art of Football.

“I am from Nottingham and we are still based in Nottingham. We bought a heat press off eBay and started making band t-shirts but it grew into Art of Football.”
