Kieran Tierney is set to quadruple his Celtic wages at Everton as a deal has been agreed in principle with the Premier League club, according to the Daily Record Sport. Tierney, who currently earns around £20k a week will earn £85k a week to start with, but this could rise to a whopping £140k a week if certain objectives are met by the Scottish left-back.
Tierney looks set to sign a five-year contract with the Toffees as they look to bolster their squad and find a long-term replacement for the ageing Leighton Baines. The left-back position has been an area Marco Silva has singled out for improved, with several players linked with a move to Goodison Park.
However, it seems Silva has found his man with the highly rated Celtic left-back rated as one of Europe’s best youngsters. It is thought the deal will be completed for around £25m which could prove to be a bargain as Tierney has a huge future ahead of him and was touted by some of Europe’s big clubs.
The 21-year-old has already made nine appearances for Scotland and even captained the side in one of those games. He has won three consecutive SPL titles since breaking into the first team in 2015 and is now a constant threat down the left.
Everton will be hoping for a much more successful season than last, where Sam Allardyce was in charge and experienced a turbulent relationship with the fans. Now under new management, the side will be hoping to break into that top six.
