Chelsea have reportedly moved into pole position to sign Leon Bailey in January.

Fussball Transfers in Germany are reporting that Stamford Bridge is the dream destination for Bailey who hopes to seal a move away from Bayer Leverkusen.

A host of big clubs have been linked with the flying winger over the past six months or so but it is Chelsea who now look to be at the front of the queue.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and PSG have all been suggested as possible destinations but the Jamaican born player is reported to favour a move to join Maurizio Sarri, if this latest story is to be believed.

Bailey signed a new contract at Leverkusen over the summer which does not have a release clause so the tricky winger is unlikely to come cheap but it would now be a major surprise if he remained in the Bundesliga for too much longer.

It has been a terrific start for Sarri in England with four wins from his four games in the Premier League but there is clearly still work to be done and the addition of Bailey would be a major boost for the club, especially if they could secure his services in January.

Bailey has developed into a star since joining the Bay Arena club from Genk with eight goals in 38 games and there is surely more to come from the 21-year-old who has plenty of raw pace and power.

The interest from PSG would be a worry for Chelsea fans given their spending power but the latest rumours from Germany do suggest that Stamford Bridge is the most likely destination for one of the hottest young properties in European football.
