Cheltenham Festival Day Three Results: Flooring Porter And Allaho Claims Wins

It was another epic day of racing at Cheltenham

Ladies Day, on St Patrick’s Day, delivered yet more drama at Cheltenham as the sun came out and the horses and jockeys produced. If you missed any of the action, you can catch up with the results right here. 

1.30 Turner Novices’ Chase

Rachael Blackmore’s Bob Olinger won a dramatic Turner Novices’ Chase as Galopin Des Champs came down on the final fence. Paul Townend looked all set to win on board the Willie Mullins horse and had ridden a phenomenal race to put huge distance in between himself and his challenger, but made an error on the final fence that cost him victory.

3rd - El Barra (18/1)

2.10 Pertemps Handicap Hurdle 

It was a thrilling finish to the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle as Third Wind fought off Alaphilippe and Mill Green to take a surprise win in the final furlong. It was a hard fought race that anybody could have, and despite a steward’s enquiry, Third Wind was given the win.

3rd - Mill Green (33/1)

4th - Winter Fog (11/2)

5th - Honest Vic (40/1)

2.50 Ryanair Chase 

After a fall at the final hurdle in the first race of the day, Paul Townend got back to winning ways on board Allaho. Just as he did twelve months ago, Allaho put in an outstanding performance to stretch clear, and the rest of the field simply couldn’t live with him.

2nd - Janidil (12/1)

3rd - Eldorado Allen (14/1)

3.30 Stayers’ Hurdle

He only went and did it again. Flooring Porter, one of the most popular horses at the Festival, defended his crown with a perfect display in the Stayers’ Hurdle that saw him lead from the front and blow away the rest of the competition.

3rd - Paisley Park (17/2)

4.10 The Plate Handicap Chase

Coole Cody pulled off a surprise win in the Plate Handicap Case as he battled down the final two furlongs to beat one of the favourites, Imperial Alcazar. He simply loves running at Cheltenham and did enough to win this one under Adam Wedge.

4th - Stolen Silver (18/1)

4.50 Ryanair Mares Novice Hurdle

It was a close run-in for the Ryanair Mares Novice Hurdle that eventually saw Love Envoi come out on top. She fought her way through the pack to pass the finishing post ahead of Thehorsewithnoname and Grangee.

4th - Nurse Susan (14/1)

5.30 Kim Muir Handicap Chase

Chambard pulled off a battling and surprising performance to win the final race of the day, beating Mister Coffey to the tape in a close run finale.
