David Beckham certainly has ambitious plans for his Inter Miami franchise, who will be joining the MLS for the start of the 2020 season. His new side have already made giant leaps and will look to take American football by storm as they enter league football for the first time.
Now Beckham has his sights set on a major signing to bring even more glitz and glamour to the MLS. The league already boasts talent such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney and they could add another major star to their ranks, if Becks get his way.
Speaking to ESPN, Beckham confirmed he would love to bring Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann to the football club. He said: "It's always nice to have great players want to come and play for our team, "He's such a great player. I'm a fan of his, he's a fan of mine, so maybe one day he will be gracing the building in Miami and that's what we want."
“Of course I have had a lot of players contacting me and not just because they want to play for the team. They want to live in a great city, they want to live in a city that is vibrant, that is exciting, that really wants to be something and already is something. That’s exciting for people.”
Remarkably, Griezmann seems to love the idea, having spoken to L’Equipe about the possibility of teaming up with Becks.
“If he (Beckham) wants me at his club, then I’ll go. I want to finish in the MLS. We will see if that will be in Los Angeles or Miami. They are two nice cities. I like the mentality and the showbusiness culture they have in the U.S.”
It may take a few years for this move to develop as Griezmann is still just 27-years-old but it seems a real possibility that we could see him finish career for Beckham’s side.
