“Do You Work With Liverpool Fans? We’d Never Hear The End Of It” Everton Supporters Face Catch-22 Ahead Of Manchester City Meeting
19:14, 06 Feb 2019

The age old footballing question of ‘would you rather your team to upset the chances of providing a hated rival and advantage’ has been doing the rounds in the Premier League of late, as we gear up to the last stretch of the season, with Manchester City and Liverpool set to go tete a tete until the end of 2018/19 for that prestigious title (with Spurs, but enough abut them for now).

Whereas City have picked up three EPL titles since the oil money came flooding in, Liverpool have of course, famously never won the Premier League, and now stand their best chance of doing so in many a year, under Jurgen Klopp. They currently lead the pack by three points but know it could have been a great deal more had recent results gone their way.

City however will leapfrog over them on goal difference should they pick up all three points in their midweek fixture, which happens to be the team that doesn’t have the most sympathy for the Reds’ plight.

Liverpool can count both Manchester United and city rivals Everton as stand-out mortal enemies in the beautiful game and it was the turn of Everton fans to face that unanswerable conundrum, as Sky Sports ventured around the streets of Liverpool ahead of them welcoming

Though the Toffees manager Marco Silva is teetering nervously on the precipice with that dreaded sack gaping way open beneath him after a dire run, the answers provided by the public with the Everton preference were particularly memorable, as grudges came to the fore and old axes to grind were dusted off and taken out of the Goodison Park armoury.

Faced with the prospect of wanting to win but in doing so directly giving Liverpool an advantage in breaking their 30-year-old hoodoo seems to have provided a few Evertonian headaches.

So view the video below and see, really, ‘Do Everton fans want their team to lose tonight, in order to hinder Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League?’
