The Europa League Draw is upon us as Chelsea look for some reprieve for a tough morning that has seen them banned for two transfer windows. They sailed into the last 16 of the competition with a comfortable 5-1 aggregate win over Malmo but unfortunately for Maurizio Sarri, it did not ease the pressure heaped upon his shoulders ahead of the League Cup final.
Arsenal had to fight back from a one-goal deficit in the first-leg, but an easy 3-0 win at the Emirates also saw them book their place in the final 16, as both English clubs look to emulate Manchester United and win this competition, booking their spot in next year’s Champions League whilst they are at it.
Other sides who have made it through to this stage of the competition are Benfica, Villarreal and Valencia, who dumped out Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side unceremoniously. Sevilla, Inter Milan and Napoli will be sides to avoid for the English sides, with all three teams looking strong this season.
Sevilla are of course, the masters of the competition, having won it three times on the trot between 2014 and 2016. Spain and England have accounted for the last seven winners of this competition with only Porto winning from outside those two countries since 2010.
So, stay tuned down below as we bring you live updates from the Europa League draw which is taking place in Nyon, Switzerland. Chelsea and Arsenal will be hoping for relatively simple draws as they look to cruise into the latter stages of the competition.
