Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24: You Can't Go Without Paul Pogba!

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24: You Can't Go Without Paul Pogba!
12:11, 18 Jan 2018

Happy Thursday, Fantasy Premier League fans, and here we are once again as we gear up for yet another enthralling weekend of football.

Before that though, let’s take a look at the most recent results, and it turns out Manchester City can actually be beaten, as Liverpool were left celebrating after a extremely exciting matchup between the northern giants. Both Manchester United and Spurs gained points on the league-leaders, although Chelsea’s slump continued with a 0-0 draw against Leicester City.

In FPL terms, the gameweek average stood at a high 58 points, largely due to some heavy scoring from Harry Kane once again. Anyway, let’s preview the action with gameweek 24 just on the horizon.

Three players to buy:

Paul Pogba – Manchester United - £8.0million

With two assists and two bonus points in his last outing, it certainly looks like Paul Pogba is back to his brilliant best. The midfield maestro was the architect to Manchester United’s 3-0 victory at home to Stoke City, and since then, the Frenchman’s ownership has shot up to 14.5%.

At £8.0 million, this is an absolute bargain for a player with his talent, particularly when he’ll have the likes of Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and maybe Alexis Sanchez to feed the ball to.

Jordon Ibe – AFC Bournemouth – £4.8million

About a month ago, we gambled on West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic, and that is paying off massively right now. Make no mistake about it, bringing in Jordon Ibe would be a huge risk, but he’s coming off a 9-point haul against Arsenal; his best return of the year.

At £4.8million he’s definitely worth the punt, and his low value means you aren’t pressured into starting him every single gameweek. If the ex-Liverpool man gets rolling, expect his value to increase rapidly.

Heung-Min Son – Tottenham Hotspur - £8.2million

Heung-Min Son is a footballer I absolutely love – and he fits Spurs’ system down to a tee. In his last two outings, he’s scored twice and tacked on an assist, and I’d say he’s Mauricio Pochettino’s second-best attacking option (behind Harry Kane, obviously).

He’s much cheaper than both Christian Eriksen (£9.3) and Dele Alli (£9.0), and although Tottenham's fixture list is looking rather tricky, I back the South Korean to come through in the clutch and score some valuable points.

Three players to sell:

Richarlison – Watford - £6.3million

Since gameweek 14, Richarlison’s form has been patchy at best. In his last two outings, the Brazilian hasn’t scored nor assisted a goal, and I don’t think it’s any coincidence that Watford are now struggling after a dip in form from their best offensive weapon.

My advice? Take the £6.3million and run. There are better options out there at the moment, and Fantasy Premier League is about selling at the right time and getting out while the player value is high.

Eden Hazard – Chelsea - £10.6million

For whatever reason, Eden Hazard just hasn’t been as dynamic this term. During his last five league games, the Belgian has just one goal contribution to his name, which is a poor return given his £10.6million price-tag.

What’s odd is that Antonio Conte has been substituting him off when the game is on the line, so perhaps there is something going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about. Either way, he isn’t performing and that’s all that matters to us…

Alvaro Morata – Chelsea - £10.4million

Sorry, Chelsea fans. It feels like I’m picking on you this week, and well, I guess I am, but the current Premier League champions are struggling right now, and that was summed up by Alvaro Morata in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard didn’t start the game, but somehow managed to get himself sent off as he picked up two quick bookings. Oh, and he also missed a couple of absolute sitters beforehand.

Well, there you have it folks. Another week is in the books, and if you take our tips on board, good luck and we’ll see you next Thursday!
