With Champions League football to keep us occupied, it feels as though this past week has flown by. Today, we’re right back at it with another Fantasy Premier League preview for you all to enjoy. Hopefully, we can pass on some knowledge and on Monday morning we’ll all be looking at green arrows galore.
After another high-scoring week, the big winners were Alvaro Morata owners thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from the talented Spaniard. Right now, he’s going toe-to-toe with Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero, which is some achievement.
All of the Premier League big-boys secured victories, with a lot of the usual suspects picking up those all-important FPL points. With that in mind, it was quite tough to pick three ins and three outs, but here goes…
Three players to buy
David de Gea – Manchester United - £5.6m
It’s not often I’ll suggest a goalkeeper when doing these previews, but bringing in Manchester United’s #1 is highly recommended. Of course, he’s one of the dearer shot-stoppers at £5.6m, but the fact that he has kept five clean sheets in six games tells you everything you need to know.
He has high ownership at 36%, but right now, Manchester United keeping clean sheets seems to be a formality. If you don’t want to change your goalkeeper, perhaps take a look at bringing in a Red Devils defender. Phil Jones is a pretty good option at around the £5.0m mark.
Alvaro Morata – Chelsea - £10.3m
Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned Chelsea hit man is the most transferred in player this week. At £10.3m, he’s wonderful value and the best part is that he will play every single week. Leading the line for Antonio Conte is no easy feat, but Morata is playing brilliantly right now.
The one thing that may put me off making this move is the fact that the blues host Manchester City this weekend, which is obviously a tough game. It’s certainly worth the investment in the long-term, though.
Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur - £12.5m
Chaps, this is not a drill. Harry Kane has found his shooting boots, and my, is he making up for a dry August. The Englishman has scored four goals in his last three outings for Spurs – and is finally beginning to justify the tag of the most expensive player in FPL this year.
His ownership currently stands at 28% and it’s on the rise. Spurs have a kind-looking fixture list over the next couple of gameweeks and this would be the perfect time to take the risk on the 24-year-old.

Three players to sell
Benjamin Mendy – Manchester City - £6.5m
Manchester City’s new left-back is the new king of social media amongst the footballing world, but now he’s out injured and nobody knows how long for. The Frenchman is an expensive defender priced at £6.5m and that money can be spent just as well elsewhere.
I’d love to hang on for the official word on Mendy, but it’s just too big of a risk to leave him in your team. He does have extremely low ownership, so a large portion of readers probably won’t have this issue. If you have him though, get rid.
Roberto Firmino – Liverpool - £8.6m
Liverpool are struggling right now, as is Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian attacker has drawn blanks in his last three fixtures, and 176,000 managers have had enough and they’ve already binned him off. I’d urge you follow suit before his value drops down to the £8.5m, which he started at.
His main issue is the fact that he’s a streaky player. Keep an eye on him, and when he starts scoring again I’d look at bringing him back in because he’s an excellent option for the money – but only when he’s firing on all cylinders.
Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City - £10.4m
Pep Guardiola hasn’t really selected a consistent team from week-to-week, and that has been a problem for Gabriel Jesus owners. One week the Brazilian will score a couple of goals then he’ll be left on the bench when the next set of fixtures roll around.
This inconsistency from City’s Spanish manager hurt me personally last gameweek as Jesus didn’t get on the pitch whatsoever and I captained him! With the Manchester club heading to Chelsea, don’t be surprised to see them opt for a one-striker setup – where, more than likely, Sergio Aguero will get the nod.
With the first game kicking off at 12:30 on Saturday, you’ll have until 11:30 BST to make your changes. Take some time to think about the transfers you are making, and remember to always look at the fixtures first, because those can often make a difference.
