Former Barcelona Great Andres Iniesta Scores Another Stunning Goal In Japan

Andres Iniesta wowed the crowds of Japan’s J1 League last week with a stunning, spinning solo goal and, incredibly, he’s just gone and scored another peach already quickly after that one, which was his first in the country.

Playing for his new side Vissel Kobe against Sanfrecce in domestic league action, Iniesta reacted spectacularly quickly to his team going behind in the 15th minute of the game to an Anderson Oliveira strike.

Picking up the ball to the left of central midfield, the former Barcelona and Spain star danced inside into space and launched an unstoppable effort from distance.

While there’s a bit of chance-y defending going on here, it’s still a stunning effort from Iniesta, showing he’s still got bundles to give at the age of 34. He’ll surely become a superstar in his new homeland if he continues to rifle in goals like this.

While he was visibly devastated at having to leave his boyhood club this summer - as evidenced by those famous shots of him sitting, sullen-looking in the centre circle of the Camp Nou long after the lights had gone down on his last appearance for Barcelona, Iniesta has spoken excitedly in the past about the prospects for his career and family life in Asia, including when interviewed at his unveiling.

“For me this is a very special day,” the Spaniard said that day. “This is an important challenge for me. My family is excited to come to Japan and we are very pleased. There were many offers. Other clubs showed interest. But I decided to sign with Vissel Kobe because the project presented to me was impressive.”

Watch his second goal in five games since that switch below in all its glory!
