Former Manchester United Manager Tipped To Take Over At Southampton After 6-1 Hammering By Manchester City

Southampton fans have voiced their anger on Twitter having been spanked 6-1 by a vibrant Manchester City side. Mark Hughes is now the favourite for the Premier League sack race having had no game plan at all at the Etihad and many supporters have lost patience with the former City manager.

Messages on social media ranged from: “Has he gone yet?  #HughesOut” to “New manager needed I think!” and Hughes’ time on the south coast looks to be coming to a sad end. He is 21/10 to be the next manager to leave his post and with the club loitering just outside of the relegation zone, it may not be a surprise to see him leave.

Saints have picked up just seven points from their opening 11 games of the season but in that time they have scored a dismal seven goals. Their goal tally is only better than Huddersfield’s at Southampton fans, used to seeing attacking football at St Mary’s are growing tired of the same old stale football.

Step forward David Moyes. The former Manchester United manager has been out of a job since leaving West Ham in the summer but is now the bookies’ favourite to take over at Southampton. Moyes did a decent job in East London to keep the Hammers’ up and many feel he was hard done by to lose his job at the London Stadium.

Also in the early running, if Hughes was to lose are Sam Allardyce and Alan Pardew, the latter, of course, having already managed the Saints to a Football League trophy back in 2010. So things do not look too bright at the moment for Southampton, perhaps David Moyes could be the man to turn things around.
