We may be in September, but we can already see that Erling Haaland is going to score a frightening amount of goals for Manchester City. The Norwegian superstar has played 10 games and scored 14 times in all competitions - 11 of which have come in his first seven appearances in the Premier League.

His latest in the top flight came in his side’s 3-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, finding the bottom corner with his weak foot - further highlighting that he can score goals in any manner. The 22-year-old’s strike helped move his side to the top of the table, with previous leaders Arsenal having a game in hand.

Haaland’s goal saw him make a piece of history in the Premier League as he became the first player to net in his first four away appearances, and we’re sure the word history will become a word synonymous with this extraordinary talent across his City career. A great deal has been said already about how well the forward uses the space around him, as well as his devastating capabilities when he is provided with a chance at goal. The striker getting on the scoresheet is fast becoming a formality with each game he plays.

As far as the match went, it was a quick start for the visitors in the West Midlands as Jack Grealish prodded home a Kevin De Bruyne  cross from close range inside the opening minute of the game. By conceding so early against the reigning champions, it could have been easy for Wolves to lose focus, but they didn’t. Moments after going behind, Goncalo Guedes forced Ederson into a reactive save at the near post and they quickly grew into the game.

Despite a positive spell, Wolves, like many of their predecessors, couldn’t stop City’s Norwegian goalscoring sensation Haaland from getting on the scoresheet. He received the ball in space, drove forward and dispatched an effort with his weak foot and found the bottom-left corner. He became the first player in Premier League history to score in his first four away matches.

Things then got worse for Wolves when a reckless high challenge from Nathan Collins on Grealish saw him receive a straight red card from Anthony Taylor. The Old Gold continued to be adventurous but they lacked any cutting edge when they did get into good positions. With the way they continued to fight, they were able to lift the crowd. They had a great chance to pull a goal back when Rayan Ait-Nouri found Guedes inside the area, but the attacker’s first-time effort sliced off his boot as he struggled to capitalise on the great opportunity he had in front of him.

No matter how positive Wolves were playing, Man City’s players are always capable of delivering the goods despite not having the best of performances. In a swift break which involved De Bruyne, Haaland and Phil Foden, the latter finished off a fine move to give City their third of the afternoon.

For City, a great result despite not being at their best and now they are unbeaten in their last 22 away games in the Premier League. As for the hosts, Wolves will feel deflated with the result, they will take confidence from the passages of play they were able to execute despite being a man down. The presence of a goalscorer was clearly lacking. And they will be hoping that new signing Diego Costa, when he reaches match fitness, can have even a fraction of the impact that he had at Chelsea - because they desperately need to find a source of goals.
