Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are about to enter a crucial test as they play a series of games which could tell us whether or not they are finally ready to make a serious challenge for the Premier League title.
That run starts this weekend as the Reds travel to Wembley to play Spurs looking to maintain their 100% start to the new season.
It feels like a good time to analyse how Klopp has fared at Anfield as an away game against Tottenham almost three years ago was the first match in charge for the German, but are Liverpool actually any better now?
There is no doubt that Liverpool have moved in the right direction since that day at the old White Hart Lane with two successive top four finishes in the bag and memorable runs to three Cup finals, including the Europa and Champions League showpiece events.
Critics will point to the fact that all three of this big finals were lost but if anyone needs proof of the improvement at the club under the former Dortmund manager, then all they need to do is look back at the team sheet from that first match in charge back in 2015.
The subs bench for Liverpool that day is a whose who of forgotten names and compared to the replacements expected on the sidelines this weekend, there really is no comparison.
The seven in the dugout for Klopp that day were Adam Bogdan, Connor Randall, Kolo Toure, Joao Carlos Teixeira, Jerome Sinclair, Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe.
Wow!
All seven of those have now departed Anfield in one way or another and it is remarkable to think those players were being relied on in such a big match in the Premier League.
The Liverpool squad has been completely transformed by the spectacle wearing gaffer in the years since and the strength of the subs bench is stark proof of that improvement.
It remains to be seen which players make the squad for the Tottenham game but the bench we saw against Leicester last time out of Mignolet, Sturridge, Keita, Moreno, Lallana, Shaqiri and Matip is a world away.
Time will tell if Liverpool are good enough to win a major trophy this season but there is no doubt this squad is improving and looking stronger than it has done for many years.
