Have Newcastle Already Found A Replacement For Rafa Benitez? Former Moncao Manager in The Frame For Magpies Job

Newcastle united are considering making Leonardo Jardim their new manager if Rafa Benitez leaves the club.

Le 10 Sport in France are reporting that the Magpies are showing genuine interest in the former Monaco coach with the pressure continuing to grow on Benitez.

The popular former Liverpool coach has gained a cult following at St James' Park as he he has steadied the ship under difficult circumstances with a woeful lack of investment in the playing squad.

Mike Ashley continues to attract the wrath of the fans but Newcastle have been struggling on the pitch so far this season and the rumours are continuing to go that Benitez could be set to pay the price with his job.

The Magpies go into their match this weekend against Southampton rock bottom with just two points to their name and defeat at St Mary's could spell the end of the Rafa reign on Tyneside.

Jardim would certainly be an interesting appointment with the Portuguese gaffer looking to rebuild his career after being ditched by Monaco recently. The 44-year-old oversaw a golden period for the Ligue 1 club during a four year spell and that has earned him a stellar reputation on the continent.

Jardim has also had stints at Braga, Olympiacos and Sporting Lisbon during an extensive career but there have been rumours of a job in England for some time now.

As it stands though, Benitez remains in charge of the Newcastle squad and a win on the south coast would do his job prospects the world of good, if not, Jardim awaits.
