All eyes were on the Chelsea teamsheet ahead of Wednesday night's crunch Premier League clash with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Would Maurizio Sarri drop Kepa Arrizabalaga?
The team is out and Kepa has been DROPPED.
Willy Caballero, the man who was due to come on to replace Kepa before the Chelsea keeper threw a hissy fit and refused to be substituted minutes before the penalty shoot-out defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday, has been named in the starting line-up.
Twitter was quick to react to the team news in typically comical fashion...
Kepa gave himself the night off [@Vintage_Utd]
Kepa dropped himself the touchline will be interesting to see who coaches [@ODOIleft]
A lovely refererence to the notion that Kepa is now the manager of the team and decides everything related to the team following his meltdown on Sunday.
Kepa dropped is morally right but big game is a big risk But Alonso ffs [WorldWideChels]
Kepa will be managing from the bench [@AryanGu92696431]
There were some extreme reactions too...
I want to squirt lemon juice in my eyes [@DBarrack04]
It wasn't just the Kepa inclusion that caused consternation though as Callum Hudson-Odoi was again relegated to the bench and there was no place in the starting line-up for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Emerson was rested and Marcos Alonso returned to the team.
Good joke, real lineup now please [@CFCJorg]
WHAT THE F EVEN IS THIS? WE AREN’T PLAYING HUDDERSFIELD, WE’RE PLAYING SPURS! KEPA AND EMERSON HAVE TO BE ON THE PITCH [@KingDrogba10]
Some fans were ready to go to extreme measures after seeing the starting XI...
That Lineup makes me want to Dolphin Dive out my Window [@RubenReflex]
While other think Sarri is just keen to leave at this point
Sarri is just looking to be sacked [@CarefreeKMC]
Hope I'm wrong.
