Sergio Ramos is not a name usually associated with controversy.
We are joking of course, the Real Madrid skipper is an absolute master of the dark arts, and he was up to his dirty old tricks in the early moments of his side’s Champions League clash away to Viktoria Plzen.
The game wasn’t even 15 minutes old when Ramos savagely floored Plzen player Milan Havel, courtesy of a nasty elbow to the face, which left Havel bloody-nosed on the deck.
'Master of Sh*thousery' instantly sprang to mind.
Alarmingly the referee didn’t even book the defender, when a straight red looked inevitable.
Within about six minutes Real Madrid had taken the lead after Karim Benzema slotted home, and within a couple of minutes Casemiro had doubled the club’s advantage.
Twitter was quick to react to the Ramos incident, and as you can imagine, the community didn’t hold back…
No one masters football's dark arts better than Sergio Ramos. Top class shithousing again there (@therealjonnyh71)
Sergio Ramos yet again being the greatest shithouse. Breaking a bods nose within first 15 mins. sharpened those elbows tonight (@TomPurcell1989)
Just when you think Sergio Ramos couldn't get any worse…(@kamina888)
On a scale of 0 to a 100, with 100 being the dirtiest player you’ve ever seen, is Sergio Ramos a 100000000? I need your thoughts. (@JimmyConrad)
For the first time in his career as far as we can remember, Sergio Ramos just did something very unpleasant to an opponent, but pretended it was an accident.
We'll give him the benefit of the doubt this time. (@Coral)
"That is a disgusting challenge."
@chris_sutton73 was not happy with what he saw from Sergio Ramos last night.
The Real Madrid defender has since issued an apology.
