Three of Britain's biggest football clubs are ready to battle it out for the signature of Brentford playmaker Lewis Macleod, who has reportedly turned down a contract extension at the Bees and could leave the Championship club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the prominent figures in the Brentford line-up after a host of injuries, but The Scottish Sun has claimed that Macleod is not willing to extend his time at Griffin Park and will look to head on to pastures new in the summer.
Macleod started his footballing career at Rangers, where he launched himself into the first team before moving to Brentford in 2015, and it's rumoured that he could be in line for a move back to Ibrox with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard keen on bringing him back to the Scottish Premiership heavyweights.
However, the Glasgow club could face stern opposition from some of the big names in the Championship and Marcelo Bielsa is keeping an eye on Macleod and could look to lure him to Elland Road for next season.
Another eye-catching club linked with Macleod is Aston Villa, who are sure to have a notable shake-up under new manager Dean Smith over the next 12 months, and Smith was the man behind Macleod's progression at Brentford and the former Scottish U21 international could relish the chance to team up with his former mentor Smith, so Villa are another club that could be looking to sign the midfield star.
Macleod has made 13 appearances in the Championship this season for Brentford - scoring on the opening day against Rotherham and again against Nottingham Forest in early September.
