Only Norwich City have accumulated more Championship points than Leeds United so far this season, but the Whites’ push for promotion up to the Premier League could be derailed with another club reportedly sniffing around for their manager, Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa, who replaced Paul Heckingbottom back in the summer, has enjoyed a cracking start to life in Yorkshire, winning 12 and losing only three of his 21 league games, while his troops are currently on a four-game winning streak.
Across the other side of the pond, Atlanta United are relishing in their newly crowned status as MLS champions - in only their second season - after Bielsa’s fellow Argentine Tata Martino led The Five Stripes to victory over the Portland Timbers in front of a crowd of 73,019.
However, the former Barcelona boss is now departing his post after two years at the helm - he will reportedly take charge of the Mexican national team - and the club are now targeting Bielsa’s services, according to Sport Witness.
A sudden departure from Leeds is highly unlikely, given both Bielsa’s immense popularity and the club’s position in the table, and as you’d expect the club’s fans have immediately dismissed the rumours.
Short answer: no. (@simon_orourke)
Why would he do that when leeds are second playing great football dream on Leeds are coming back, some big rivalries need renewing (@acko42)
Right let’s just apply a bit of common sense. Bielsa...one of the greatest innovators of the most popular sport on earth is not going to Atlanta. Especially after the job he has done for us #lufc (@LewyPearce)
Obviously know NOTHING about the man or his integrity 🙄 #clickbait (@FarneyWhites)
Of course he is radz has alresdy said if we get promoted the whole team is getting a trip to vegas (@Juliejwl777)
I mean it won't happen but it would be the most Leeds thing ever. (@JackTPearson)
Leeds go hunting their fifth straight Championship win on Saturday when they make the trip over to Bolton, who are down in 23rd, and without a victory in 11 matches dating back to September.
