Rangers have confirmed the signing of Jermain Defoe on an 18-month loan deal from Premier League side Bournemouth and the new addition has wasted no time in endearing himself to the Ibrox faithful.
The 36-year-old will provide some much-needed firepower for the Scottish Premiership side as they look to maintain their title push, with Steven Gerrard's men currently only behind their old rivals Celtic at the top of the table on goal difference (albeit Celtic do have a game in hand).
Rangers are as short as 7/2 to win the Scottish title with some bookmakers and the arrival of Defoe has got fans dreaming.
The forward swiftly laid down the gauntlet to his teammates by tweeting 'Let's bring it home, boss', alongside an image of him and Gerrard celebrating an England goal together. It will be interesting to see if the pair can enjoy more success with Gerrard now his manager.
Rangers fans were swift to get very excited on Twitter and they reacted to Defoe's tweet with unbridled joy...

Celtic fans were less than impressed with the news that Defoe, who had been linked with a move to Brendan Rodgers' side, would be heading to Ibrox...

Jermain Defoe may be getting on in years and his goal output has waned in recent years - after scoring 15 goals in both of the 2016/17 and 2017/18 Premier League campaigns, Defoe scored just four last season - the Rangers fans are clearly starting to believe and are pumped by their newest signing though.
Could this be their year?
