The draw for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup is not far away and will get underway just after the end of Chelsea’s tie with Derby County at Stamford Bridge. Scott Minto, Jamie Redknapp and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be doing the honours.
We’re ready for the action and couldn’t be any more excited if we’d necked a couple of the competition sponsor special brews for the occasion. Stay with us and we’ll bring you all the updates as they happen!
But who do the bookies fancy to land the spoils when the final rolls around at the end of February? Prior to tonight’s kick-offs last year’s winners Manchester City were the favourites to retain it at around the 5/1 mark, while Chelsea, having edged past Derby tonight, were their next-best at 7/1. Arsenal and Tottenham came in next at the joint 10/1 marker.
Last year’s winners will have to wait a little longer to book their place in the the last eight; they face Fulham at the Etihad tomorrow night.
Meanwhile fairytale run of Burton Albion into the last eight was allowed to continue for one more round at least after they beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 last night. Nigel Clough’s team have never been this deep in the competition in their history. What a story it would be for them if they could pull one of the big boys out of the hat tonight!
Fingers crossed for a money-spinning draw for them. You can follow that, and all the other subplots live with us as they happen, right here.
