Liverpool’s number one Alisson Becker has hit the headlines again this week after an excellent last-minute save against Napoli saw Liverpool through to the last 16 of the Champions League. The Reds and Jurgen Klopp are certainly pleased with their summer signing from Serie A, with the German gaffer extremely delighted with his business in the summer window, having brought the Brazilian to the club for £56 million.

He said after the Napoli game: “If I knew Alisson was this good, I would have paid double. The save ‘Ali’ made, I have no words. It was a lifesaver. He did it. I never saw something similar.”

Now Liverpool fans have picked up on a stunning statistic from 2018 about their new goalkeeper.

It turns out that Liverpool have scored more goals against Alisson in 2018 than all the other Premier League clubs combined.

Liverpool, of course, came up against Alisson in the Champions League semi-final last season when the Brazilian was in goal for Roma. The Reds put in one of the most spectacular performances of the seasons as they blew the Italians away in the first leg, racing into a 5-0 lead before being pegged back to 5-2 in the final few minutes.

They then scored twice in the away leg and despite losing 4-2 on the night they had reached the Champions League final winning 7-6 on aggregate. Those seven goals they hit past Alisson eclipse the six goals that he has conceded in the Premier League this season against 16 Premier League teams.

Even Man City could not score past Alisson this season and the Reds will be hoping he can keep up this brilliant record as they host Manchester United this weekend.
