The race for the Premier League title and indeed the top four is hotting up in the top flight of English football as the big six once against battle it out for Champions League football next season. It looks almost certain the Liverpool and City will finish in the top four, with borth of them challenging for the Premier League title, which leaves just two places, to be filled by four remaining teams.

Spurs are currently in third place after escaping the North London derby with a point this weekend and they hold a three-point lead over Manchester United who have been flying under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Arsenal lie one point behind them in fifth whilst Chelsea are a further point behind in sixth.

Now the boffins over at FiveThirtyEight, have predicted the final Premier League table using a wide range of analytical techniques and statistical data. The results may surprise you. The Premier League champions at the season will be the current leaders, Manchester City. They will win the league by just two points above Liverpool. No surprises there then.

In third, Tottenham Hotspur will maintain their current position and finish in the Champions League places on 77 points. Amazingly, the surprise pick comes in fourth where Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea have been picked to pip Arsenal and Man Utd to that Champions League place, on 75 points.

This prediction places Arsenal to finish in fifth and United in sixth, level on 73 points but with Arsenal boasting a slightly better goal difference. Gutting for Solskjaer’s men.

At the other end of the table it finishes as it stands. Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield all go down with Southampton finishing six points clear of the bottom three. No dramas at the stressful end of the Premier League table.
