Mohamed Salah's opening goal for Liverpool against Bournemouth this lunchtime was tainted with controversy as the Egyptian should've been flagged offside before he knocked the ball past Asmir Begovic into the Cherries net.

However, with the goal given to launch the Reds into the lead on the south coast it saw Salah break a stunning record that was previously held by Spanish striking sensation Fernando Torres.

Salah became the fastest Liverpool player to score 40 Premier League goals with his tremendous feat coming in just 52 matches.  Salah showed why he is widely regarded as one of the finest attacking talents in the division as he netted his third goal in as many appearances against Bournemouth, but his overall goalscoring record is stunning for a player that failed to sparkle in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Since Salah's arrival at Anfield he has been a phenomenon and his goals have helped Liverpool to not only remain unbeaten this season, but he also helped them reach the Champions League final last season.

His fine scoring record has seen him surpass some of Liverpool's great strikers over the last three decades and not only does he surpass Torres' record, but he has eclipsed the records of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Luis Suarez, who are heralded as top class strikers during their time on Merseyside.

While there is sure to be many calling for VAR following Salah's offside goal, but let's take a moment to praise his stunning goalscoring record at Liverpool and he will need to continue his brilliance in front of goal if Liverpool are to challenge Manchester City for the title.
