If you are like 80 per cent of FPL players (and ourselves), this midweek round of fixtures has almost certainly snuck up on you and the deadline is now a matter of hours away! But never fear, FPL Bottom Line is here to guide you through this tricky set of midweek fixtures which, for the first time ever, will be shown on Amazon Prime. Let’s get stuck into it.
Back Premium Stars In Merseyside Derby
Everton looked decent for 70 minutes against Leicester at the weekend before Kelechi Ihenacho stole all three points at the death but that may well have taken the wind out of Marco Silva’s slack sails ahead of the all-important Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night.
It may be the biggest game of Everton’s season but their complete lack of substance means that Liverpool have the potential to cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Mo Salah boasts just one goal in his three games against the Toffees so we’d be more inclined to go with Sadio Mane who has three goals in his nine games v Everton.
To be honest, if you can afford to, doubling up on this pair or even including Roberto Firmino may not be a bad option if, as expected, Liverpool score a hatful. They're top of the league for a reason and this could be Silva’s last stand.
Don't forget the #FPL Gameweek 15 deadline is at 18:30 GMT!
More Of The Same From Leicester And Captain Vardy
Yep, we know we have made this point several times over the last few weeks but Leicester are still the team to own players from - especially the in-form Jamie Vardy. It may not provide much of a differential but you can expect Vardy to be made captain by the majority of FPL managers at home to Watford and given he is likely to score again, you don’t want to miss this boat.
It would also be a surprise if Watford find the net at the King Power so you should see some return on those Leicester defenders. Although Ben Chilwell is our pick of the talented Leicester back four, if you have any of them already in your team, don’t go changing.
Goals Certain In Basement Battle
Although the Merseyside Derby and Jose Mourinho’s return to Manchester United will steal the headlines, the most important game of the week may come on the south coast as Southampton host Norwich. These are the two sides who have conceded more goals than anybody else in the Premier League this season and managers can look to take advantage of that with the cheaper attacking options available.
Todd Cantwell has scored twice in his last two fixtures and is still remarkably only valued at £4.6m while Teemu Pukki is slightly pricier at 6.6m but finally found the net again this weekend against Arsenal. For Saints, Danny Ings has hit the net in his last three games and his price has now climbed to £6.2m while James Ward-Prowse is their best-attacking midfield option at £5.8m.
There will be goals in this game and it could be worth switching in a couple of these cheaper picks as you look to make up ground on your rivals. Green arrows ahoy!
