Manchester City are considering buying back Aaron Mooy from Huddersfield Town for a fee of £20m.
ESPNFC are reporting that City are monitoring the situation with a host of clubs sniffing around the Australian player this summer. Mooy was the best player in the Premier League last season and has taken that form onto the International stage with a series of impressive displays for Australia at the World Cup in Russia.
Mooy failed to play a game for the Citizens having arrived at the Manchester club from his native Australia back in 2016 but he has impressive in a two year spell with the Yorkshire club. An initial loan move to Huddersfield was made permanent last summer but City were clever enough to insert a buy back clause into the deal.
Everton, Southampton and West Ham have all been linked with a move for Mooy but Man City would be in pole position due to that relatively cheap looking buy back clause. Pep Guardiola could well use the Australian to strengthen the squad depth as they look for a better showing in the Champions League and the 27-year-old would surely jump at the chance of going back to the Etihad Stadium to prove himself.
The £20m price tag would seem a steal given Mooy's impact for Huddersfield last term as they defied all the doubters to stay in the Premier League. David Wagner would be loathed to lose such a key players as the Terriers look to kick on but they may be powerless if the champions come knocking on their door.
