Another day, another dose of Manchester United transfer speculation as Paul Pogba is once again linked with a return to former club Juventus.
The Frenchman has been hotly linked with the Old Lady since the summer, although Red Devils fans had been hoping this particular rumour had been put to bed following the departure of Jose Mourinho last month.
Incoming interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford, rejuvenating the confidence crushed squad, who have enjoyed five wins out of five under his eye, and he now has the chance to become the first ever Red Devils boss to fire out the blocks with six straight victories.
However, United have now been rocked by reports today from Italian outlet Tuttosport who claim that Juventus are set to up their bid to lure Pogba back by offering winger Douglas Costa in exchange.
Pogba has yet to get his hands on the Premier League title, but over in Italy he lifted the Serie A on four occasions, while he also helped the side win a couple of Coppa Italia trophies and Italian Super Cup, and came within touching distance of Champions League glory.
It remains to be seen whether United would take up Juventus’ reported offer, but it’s a story that is unlikely to please any United supporters.
Brazilian Costa, formerly of Bayern Munich, has been a long-term transfer target but it’s difficult to envision a straight swap for Pogba ever occurring, with United sure to demand a lot more, should the World Cup winner actually reveal that he wants to leave the club.
