With just hours left before the summer transfer window closes, disgruntled Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he’s not confident of signing any more players.

United supporters have watched on in despair as fierce rivals Liverpool have splashed the cash on a number of high-quality acquisitions, defending champions Man City now have Riyad Mahrez in their ranks, while Chelsea have been busy since replacing Antonio Conte with Maurizio Sarri.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have been drenched in frustration in recent weeks, having failed to add to the early additions of Fred, Lee Grant, and Diogo Dalot.

Now it looks like no new arrivals will be heading to Old Trafford in this window...unless Mourinho has something up his sleeve.

Mourinho is desperate for a centre-back with Harry Maguire still believed be keen to switch Leicester for the Red Devils, just a year after his £17m move from Hull City. Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is Mourinho’s first choice, but has reportedly phoned the Portuguese coach to tell him he won’t be joining.

It also now looks like long-standing target Toby Alderweireld will be staying at Tottenham.

With only 24 hours to go until Man Utd kick-off their campaign at home to Leicester, Mourinho is not a happy manager. He was recently cut from 30/1 to just 6/1 to suffer the embarrassment of becoming the first Premier League gaffer to lose their job this season. He can also be backed at 6/4 not to be in charge for the club’s final game of the season, and 10/1 to be the first sacking and United to finish outside of the top-4.
