Newly installed Spain coach, Fernando Hierro, who just took over the job after Julen Lopetegui was amazingly sacked, certainly has a tough decision to make in regards to who should lead the line for La Roja at the World Cup.
With Valencia's dynamic attacker Rodrigo, Celta Vigo star Iago Aspas and Atletico Madrid warrior Diego Costa to choose from, he undoubtedly has a challenging selection to make. Three uniquely skilled and quite different forwards, the trio all bring interesting skill sets to the table.
To focus on Costa, in particular, and he's a man that will be desperate for redemption after his unsatisfactory exertions at the 2014 World Cup. Hitting five goals in qualifying for this summer's showpiece, the dogged hitman offers a great blend of physicality, intensity, technique and intelligence.
Having returned to his beloved Atletico Madrid last season, following a frustrating end to his spell at Chelsea, he was instrumental in propelling his side to Europa League glory, where his vital winner vs. Arsenal in the semi was huge for Diego Simeone's men reaching the final. And his output would've duly given him some much needed confidence heading into the Cup.
Forceful, combative and a winner, the 29-year-old's fearless approach is a top asset to have in the biggest matches, for he sets the tone brilliantly, while also serving as an intimidating proposition for the opposition.

The experienced campaigner's footballing talent is another source of menace for his adversaries too, as he's an expert at identifying and exploiting usable space through his intuitive movement. Whether via his smart movement in between lines or his cunningly angled and directed runs in behind, he'll provide a threat both in front of and behind the opposing defence. A vital byproduct of his movement comes from the fact it creates space for his teammates to use, as his strategic runs successfully manipulate and unbalance backlines. Indeed, this will be something the likes of David Silva, Andres Iniesta, Isco and Thiago will enjoy benefiting from.
Also competent with the ball at his feet, holding the ball up, excellent in the air and using his body to outmuscle his marker, Costa's presence will definitely add plenty to this Spanish side.
With plenty to prove after the last World Cup, Costa will be a man on a mission who'll be extremely motivated to succeed and ensure the striking spot is his.
