Maurizio Sarri is set to take over as Chelsea’s new boss as one of his former defender's seemed to let slip that he was joining the Blues. Current incumbent Antonio Conte is inches away from the exit door as Roman Abramovich is still unhappy with his sides underwhelming performance last season. Chelsea failed to finish in the top four however they did scoop the FA Cup after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly seemed to confirm that Sarri was joining Chelsea after their 2-1 win against Poland. “You can expect nice football because he’s a very good coach. It’s disappointing that he is leaving like this.

“We have now a big coach and we know we can win something with him. I hope he [Sarri] can win something with Chelsea.

“When a person like this comes to a new club, he needs time.

"They have to give him time because he will suit the football of Chelsea. I think Chelsea fans will enjoy the style of football he plays.

“At Napoli, we enjoyed it so much and the supporters enjoyed it so much, too. I think at Chelsea it will be the same.”

Sarri is thought to have his eyes on a few of his former Napoli players already after Carlo Ancelotti was chosen to replace the controversial Italian at Napoli. Dries Mertens is top of the wanted list having hit 22 goals for Napoli last season as they narrowly missed out on the Serie A title to Juventus.

It is also thought that Gianfranco Zola will join Sarri at the club after confirming he was in talks with the club after the Poland game last night. The Chelsea legend would be welcomed back with open arms.

This would be a huge appointment for Chelsea as they look to win the Premier League once again!
