Newcastle United Set To Break Transfer Record To Sign MLS Star
13:40, 29 Nov 2018

Newcastle could finally break their long-standing transfer record which has stood for over 13 years, ever since Michael Owen joined the club from Real Madrid for £17 million. Now Mike Ashley looks like he could surprisingly be set to put his hand in his pocket and splash out for one of the top talents in the MLS.

Atlanta United have one of the top talents on the continent at their disposal in Miguel Almiron. A 24-year-old who has sparkled in the United States this season leading Atlanta United to a possible MLS Cup final and clearly standing out as one of the most talented players in an improving division.

The number ten playmaker is now ready to leave Atlanta at the conclusion of the current season and feels he is ready to test himself in Europe in 2019. Almiron is valued at £25 million by the MLS newbies which would be a huge transfer record for the Magpies but it is thought to be a sound investment for a man with bags of talent.

Steve Nickson, Newcastle United’s Head of Recruitment is flying out to the US to begin talks with the player and discuss a deal for the Paraguayan, who has represented his country 12 times already. His record of 21 goals in 62 games for the club is outstanding for a midfielder who is still learning his trade.

This would be an outstanding signing for the Toon, who are looking to continue their exceptional form, having won their last three Premier League games.
