Neymar has confirmed his long-awaited return to football and hopes to be ready for action in exactly a month’s time.
Speaking at an event held in São Paulo yesterday evening by the Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL, the PSG attacker declined to give an exact date for his return to the field but will take his final exam on May 17th before hopefully resuming training right away.
“I don’t have an exact date as it depends on my recovery. But if I’m not mistaken I’m going to do my last exam on the 17th of May” Neymar confirmed. “It depends on the next set of exams that I’ll do but if I was to say a date, it would more or less be May 17th”.
“As for the national team” Neymar went on to explain “I’m always in contact with Tite and [ex-Arsenal and Corinthians player and current seleção technical co-ordinator] Edu Gaspar exchanging information. It’s all going well.”
Neymar assured a crowd hanging on his every word of having enough time to arrive at the World Cup in peak physical condition. “It’s bad to be injured, but I’m more relaxed. We have to look at the positive side of things” he continued. “There are reasons to be doubtful” he confessed. “Sometimes even I feel this way. But it was my first surgery and I’ll arrive well and push myself to the limit.”
“From the moment I start training, I’ll dedicate myself even more because a dream, the World Cup, is arriving” Neymar vowed. “I’ve waited four years for this opportunity and now it’s close.”
The former Santos winger confessed to playing video games over the course of lengthy recovery sessions. “Physiotherapy is the biggest part of it. My day starts at 9,10 AM and finishes at nine in the evening. I’m always doing treatment as I want to come back well. I want to get better but I have to do this just a little more.”
If given the all-clear, Neymar could possibly make his comeback in PSG’s last fixture of the season on May 19th, which involves an away trip at Caen. From a Brazilian perspective, however, at least some involvement in the national team’s clash against Croatia on June 3rd at Anfield is deemed more of a priority.
