''Not Long To Go Now'' - Latest Footage Of Tottenham's New Stadium Emerges On Social Media

"It's 2048 and Spurs' new stadium still hasn't been built". This and many, many derivatives of the long running joke about Tottenham's new stadium (no pun intended) are common place, but the latest footage to emerge on social media shows excited Spurs fans at least, that it'll be worth the wait.

The footage was posted by @justcallmegav on Monday and is a short video and the words "Home sweet home, not long to go now". The new Tottenham stadium at White Hart Lane looks like a cross between an airport and shopping centre before the camera pans out and sees the full grand scale of the building.

Despite the general message of 'not long to go now', there were plenty of signs that work is still some way off being completed. Spurs have run a number of test events and the footage from inside the stadium looks incredible.

As the excruciating wait goes on for Spurs fan (this one included), there's still no official date for the club to move into their new home. The last official word came in a statement via the Tottenham Hotspur website from Daniel Levy on the 9th January.

The Spurs' Chairman, said:

“I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience. The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone. We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks.”

The Spurs Stadium in Numbers:

  • Capacity - 62,062
  • 17,500 seats in a single-tier stand
  • 5 Metres from the goal line to the single-tier
  • 9 floors

Spurs have designed the single-tier stand on the Yellow Wall at Borussia Dortmund and thew close proximity to the pitch is clear swipe at London rivals West Ham who have fans sat in the next district at the London Stadium.

The single-tier stand is being described as a wall of sound by the Spurs' marketeers and they've been hard at it promoting their tunnel club, similar to Manchester City's where you can see the players in the tunnel through a glass wall. Along with a cheese room and it's own craft brewery, it's no wonder Spurs fans can laugh off all the jokes as the Stadium slowly works it's way to completion.
