Real Madrid are considering making a shock transfer move for Marcos Alonso.

The Daily Star are reporting that Los Blancos are considering making a move to bring the Spanish full back home in the wake of their 4-2 defeat at the hands of Atletico in the European Super Cup on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid have been continually linked with a move for Eden Hazard this summer but this latest report of a move for Alonso is something of a surprise.

It would be something of a homecoming for the 27-year-old full back given that he started his career at the Bernabeu and made one appearance foe the senior team back in 2010 before moving on in the search of first team football.

Alonso is currently in his second spell in England having also played for Bolton before moving to Fiorentina and then on to Chelsea under Antonio Conte.

At the time, Chelsea fans were underwhelmed with the signing of Alonso but he has made the left wing back role his own since arriving at Stamford Bridge and was a key part of the title winning team in 2016/17 under the Italian manager.

A move back to his boyhood club would surely interest the Spanish international but it would be a major surprise if Chelsea let one of their key defenders go without the ability to replace him.

The English transfer window slammed shut before the Premier League season started but Real have until the end of the month to bring in new players which has seen the rumours continue to fly.
