Real Madrid & Spain Captain Sergio Ramos Belts Out Epic World Cup Song

Sergio Ramos has finally released his long-awaited unofficial World Cup song ‘Otra estrella en tu corazón’ on the eve of this year’s tournament in Russia, and the Real Madrid captain proves that he’s as equally capable on the mic as he is is leading Los Blancos’ backline.

In a collaboration with the Spanish crooner Demarco Flamenco, Ramos puts his all into singing about the numerous recent triumphs the international Spain side have had since the start of the Millennium, and belts out uplifting lyrics such as

"Come on Spain, raise your voice! Shout with strength, shout for that goal! We can do it together, with heart. We are all dreaming about this dream.”

The title itself roughly translates as the passionate ‘Another Star In Your Heart’, which is sure to empower the nation holding on to the hope of another World Cup star on their shirt. Spain are the first and so far only international side to with the back-to-back-treble of European Championships intersected with a World Cup, of which Ramos was a vital component.

Not content with conquering Europe as a triple-consecutive Champions League winner, Ramos seems intent on conquering the charts as well, fresh off his triumph over Liverpool in Kiev.

The video provided alongside the song intercuts clips of Spain’s numerous international triumphs with footage of children on a field recreating similar moments on a training pitch. Players to feature in the highlight reel features the recently Japan-bound Barcelona hero Andrés Iniesta.

Ramos himself appears alongside Flamenco in a brightly lit studio and isn’t frightened to demonstrate his pop-star credentials, with the passion and intensity he has demonstrated in over 13 years in Madrid, and three as captain since taking over from legend Iker Casillas.

Not just one of the best defenders in the history of the game, hopefully Ramos can carve out a career as one of the best singers to come out of the country since Julio Iglesias.

Whether it becomes one of the defining World Cup songs remains to be seen. Although it is certainly better than Kevin Keegan's output, in Liverpool the song should sell as well as The Sun, and unfortunately for Ramos, he has serious competition for the top-of-the-World Cup-pops from your very own Sportsman, with our own song ‘Gareth Gareth Gareth’ in collaboration with Bell & Spurling and the one and only Razor Ruddock set to be this summer’s banger.

You can watch both videos and listen to both songs below, and decide for yourself which one comes out top. The full lyrics in English for Otra estrella en tu corazón are underneath.

'Otra estrella en tu corazón'

Never forget what we could feel
That road to victory was to live
Never give up
It will always guide us
Open your wings and get ready to fly
Close your eyes and remember that place
And he will take you
Your heart will take you
Come on, Spain, raise your voice
Scream loudly, shout that goal
Together we can, with the heart
We all dream of that illusion
Come on, Spain, raise your voice
Scream loudly, shout that goal
In our skin, decide the ball
Put another star in your heart
Thinking big we will achieve the best
Fighting together, towards the star with honor
We have to try
May the Red shine more
Open your wings and get ready to fly
Close your eyes and remember that place
And he will take you

Your heart will take you
Come on, Spain, raise your voice
Scream loudly, shout that goal
Together we can, with the heart
We all dream of that illusion
Looking at the sky, I want to hear you
And may your soul lead us to win
And to win
Come on, Spain, raise your voice
Scream loudly, shout that goal
Together we can, with the heart
We all dream of that illusion
Come on, Spain, raise your voice
Scream loudly, shout that goal
In our skin, decide the ball
Put another star in your heart
