Sadio Mane v Son Heung-Min Statistics: Which Player Is More Important Ahead Of Liverpool v Tottenham Clash?

The big game of this Premier League weekend is unquestionably at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as title chasing Liverpool host Champions League chasing Tottenham in a clash which could have a major impact on the run-in.

The two top teams have been rivals at the right end of the table for the past few years but this game feels a particularly big one with so much on the line.

Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino are blessed to have so many key players at their disposal and two men that will be under the microscope in particular are Sadio Mane and Son Heung-Min.

Both men have tended to play second fiddle to Mo Salah and Harry Kane respectively during their spells at their clubs but both are becoming increasingly important and could be key this weekend. Son and Mane have similar jobs, to chip in with as many as they can and also be one of the main providers to their fellow strikers but which player is having the better season?

When it comes to goals it is Mane who is out ahead of his Korean foe with 17 goals in the Premier League to his name against 11 for Son, although it should be noted that the former Saints star has played ten more games.

Assists see the power swing to north London with Son picking up five assist so far this term as opposed to just one for Mane which is a surprisingly low tally for a player of his quality. Both men are averaging 2.4 shots per game and it is Mane who has the edge in key passes with 1.1 per match, against one for Tottenham star.

The statistics prove just how important both forwards are for their teams in the chase for silverware this season and how they perform at Anfield on Super Sunday could well have a major impact on the outcome. Mane in particular has been growing in confidence in front of goal and with Son a major miss when he was away with his country at the Asia Cup, their comparison is worthy one.

Liverpool are under huge pressure to pick up the three points against Tottenham with Man City now back in front after their win against Fulham on Saturday and it could be that Mane is the man to keep their title race on track.

Which player would you rather have in your team?
